Do not mix gas cylinders

There are dozens of gases that people use regularly. These gases have different properties: some are easy to burn, such as hydrogen, acetylene gas; Some will not burn themselves, but can help combustion, such as oxygen; Some are toxic, such as phosgene; Some are safer, neither combustion nor combustion aid, and non-toxic, such as nitrogen.
All kinds of gases are not to be miscible, which is easy to cause accidents. If hydrogen is mixed with oxygen, it will burn and explode even if it does not touch the open flame. Another example is nitrogen, although it is a safe gas, but if it is mixed into other gases, it will not only play no protective role, but will cause trouble. Another example is that the cylinder containing liquefied butane cannot be filled with liquefied methane, because the boiling points of liquefied butane and liquefied methane are very different (the boiling point of methane is -162℃, and the boiling point of butane is 1.5℃), and both are hydrocarbon compounds, can be completely miscible, when the low boiling point of liquefied methane is dissolved into liquefied butane, it becomes a superheated state above the boiling point. And produce a violent boiling or boiling phenomenon, impact cylinder will explode. Therefore, all kinds of gas cylinders should be special cylinders.
Before filling the gas, the gas cylinder must be checked. If the color and the wording of the gas cylinder are found to be inconsistent with the gas, the filling should be refused. The paint color of the gas cylinder shall not be altered arbitrarily. Other designs and marks shall not be added except the name of the unit to which the gas cylinder belongs.
When the cylinder is in use, the gas in the cylinder should not be used up to prevent other gases from entering the cylinder. Generally, no less than 0.05 mpa of residual pressure should be left. Therefore, when using this pressure, should immediately stop using gas, and close the valve, do not make the residual gas out.
Firemen often see colorful gas cylinders in fire inspection and extinguishing work. These cylinders with different paint colors are specially designed to be filled with certain compressed gases. No matter what kind of gas cylinders, they must be painted in accordance with the requirements of unified regulations, labeled with the name of the gas, and keep the paint of the cylinder in good condition, if there is a loss of paint should be timely. This is to facilitate the fire control and other related personnel in the fire inspection and extinguishing work, according to the paint color and logo of the gas cylinder, can timely and accurately identify the gas medium and characteristics of the gas cylinder, actively take corresponding measures and countermeasures, in order to reduce or avoid the occurrence of accidents.
